Greg Schiano has had a long career in football. Starting with his time playing as a linebacker in high school, he went to Bucknell University, where he continued to play.
After playing in college, he began as an assistant coach for a high school team. He somehow managed to leverage that position to get a job at Penn State, and then in the NFL.
He left the NFL after two years and went to U. Miami to coach. He served as defensive coordinator there. He then went to Rutgers as the head coach.
From there, Schiano returned to the NFL to coach the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but after two terrible seasons, he was fired. That took him to Ohio state, where he currently serves as the defensive coordinator.
Schiano was supposed to start with Tennessee, but after a huge backlash because of his connections to disgraced coach Jerry Sandusky, he was dropped from the deal.
At Ohio State, Greg Schiano had a base salary of $700,000 for 2018. He was earning a base of $600,000 last year. As part of his contract, he would have had to pay $30,000 to release himself from his contract to go to Tennessee.
