Taylor Swift Teases New Music With Cryptic Countdown On Her Instagram
Taylor Swift is at it again! The pop superstar, who is known to be a queen of hidden riddles and clues is taking fans on a scavenger hunt. The singer recently posted an image of a strange countdown clock to official Taylor Swift Instagram account stories on April 13th.
In the picture, the timer is overlaid against rolling green and pink clouds. (The Shake It Off singer has changed her profile photo to that of the same dreamy clouds.) The numbers 12:23:52 are counting down to 4.26, which have been translated to April 26th by fans. Many fans speculate that the countdown is when singer debuts her new music. (There is a live countdown clock on her website.) An insider tells Us Weekly that the 29-year-old will release the first single from her new album on that day. Swifties went into a frenzy when the countdown started, and Taylor Swift began to trending on social media.
The “Look What You Made Me Do” singer also tweeted for the first time since last December. She posted an image which she simply captioned “4.26” with a picture of a pink, diamond-encrusted heart. Swift posted the same image to her Instagram in a standalone post.
It’s no surprise that the Grammy winner uploaded the surprise announcement on April 13, which is 13 days before the big date, April 26. Swift – whose birthday falls on December 13 – has mentioned in the past that 13 is her lucky number. We all know Taylor Swift makes a deliberate, calculated move, and this was no exception.
Taylor has also been dropping cleverly thought out clues about the album with her wardrobe. She donned a similar iridescent color palette to the iHeart Radio Music Awards on March 14, with a pink-purple sequined number.
These types of cryptic messages are nothing new from the “Shake It Off” singer. In February, Taylor Swift Instagram account had a picture of seven palm trees beneath a turquoise sky and captioned it with seven emojis of palm.
At the time, Swifties on Twitter theorized that four of the palm trees symbolized Swift’s four country albums, while two of them represented her two pop albums. The biggest palm tree in the middle would be her upcoming highly anticipated seventh studio album.
The pop star’s songs and music videos are always crammed with cryptic messages on her love life and public feuds. The Look What You Made Me Do was based on her evolution from a naive Taylor Swift to a much sharper, badass version after the Kanye West incident. The video had images of receipts and snakes, which instantly reminded everyone of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West.
Kanye West’s nemesis has been keeping busy since last year. Swift traveled all over the world on her sold-out international Reputation tour from May to November, and insiders tell Us Weekly that she and boyfriend actor Joe Alwyn plan to get engaged in very soon. “Joe is planning on proposing soon,” a source exclusively revealed in December. “However, he wants to make it unforgettable and extremely special.”
