We all know that Dubai is keen on housing some of the world’s most expensive things. Well, it seems it’s done it again! Shumukh was unveiled yesterday, 14, March 2019, at the Mall of Dubai with an eye-watering price tag.

Shumukh - the most expensive perfume in the world

A luxury fragrance brand in Dubai called The Spirit of Dubai Parfumes by Nabeel showcased the most expensive unisex perfume in the world, which is valued at AED 4.7 million ($1.3 million).

Shumukh is an Arabic word which translates to “deserving the highest,” and combines the majestic art of jewellery and perfumery to design a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, a statement said.

    What Makes It (So) Expensive

The bottle is encrusted with 3,571 bright, shining diamonds (totaling 38.55 carats), pearls, topaz, 2479.26 grams of 18 karat gold and 5892.88 grams pure silver. Yes, many would consider Shumukh as the epitome of luxury, which it is, but wouldn’t you be scared using the perfume? But hey, if you have millions to spend on a fragrance, it’ll probably be just another addition to the collection.

It stands grandly at 1.97 meters tall and took over three years and 495 perfume trials to formulate, Shumukh is made of the absolute best natural ingredients sourced from every corner of the globe, culminating in a scent with notes of sandalwood, amber, musk, pure Turkish rose, rare pure Indian agarwood, patchouli ylang-ylang, and frankincense.

    Where Can You See It

The world’s most expensive perfume is exclusively on display at The Dubai Mall, Fashion Avenue as a portion of the mall’s ART+ series. Those who’re curious and would like to get a whiff of luxury should head to the mall while it’s still on display. Don’t worry, they’re not charging anything for a glimpse of Shumukh. If you’re planning on purchasing, then you should take a stack of unlimited change, because it’s going to set you back almost half a million!

It will be on display in The Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue till March 30.

    The Brand Behind The Perfume

Shumukh has been created in the UAE by none other than Asghar Adam Ali, chairman and chief perfumer at Nabeel Perfumes Group of Companies and executed by distinguished artisans and master craftsmen from Italy, Switzerland, and France.

Asghar Ali said: “With a history of passion for perfumery that has spanned 48 years and a keen eye for jewelry design, my dream was to bring to life a ‘history in the making’ concept with innovation at its core.” He added, “My vision was not only to capture Dubai’s persona in one monumental piece of art but also to create a fragrance that embodied the pinnacle of luxury in the world of perfumery. Today, I am very proud of Shumukh, an evocatively stunning and bespoke creation which combines the disciplines of art, jewelry design, and perfumery.”

Asghar Adam Ali designed the perfume to allude to the seven key elements that symbolize Dubai. They are: durra (pearl diving), abjar (Arabian horses), Arabic hospitality (diwan), narjesi (roses), baz (falconry), haibah (luxury), ) and aamal – Dubai’s bold claim as a city of the future.
