On March 25, 2019, Michael Avenatti was arrested by national law implementation officers as he had been charged with financial crimes. He supposedly demanded $20 million out of Nike in for their forge publicity that he threatened them he could do. Federal authorities revealed that Avenatti told the lawyers at Nike that he would call a press conference to publicize the accusations of misbehavior by employees at the company just before the company’s four-monthly remuneration call. He also apparently called out to Nike to hire him to carry out an investigation on such matter at the company and in return, asked for a handsome salary. He blackmailed Nike to pay him a sum of $22.5 million settlement in order to avoid the forge press release he threatened to carry and also to prevent his investigations.
The lawyer is also best known for taking the case to the court of the adult-film star Stormy Daniels in her nondisclosure covenant lawsuit against the President of United States, Donald Trump.
