One of our time’s most influential people in media, Jann Wenner, got his start by climbing the ranks of small-time newspaper gigs after dropping out of college. He then partnered with Ralph Gleason and in 1967 Rolling Stone magazine was born. Along with numerous other media endeavors, he also has founded Men’s Journal and now completely owns the 11 million weekly readers magazine, US Weekly. These three publications are all published by Wenner’s company, New York City based Wenner Media.
In addition to being responsible for the publication of some of the most well-read magazines circulated today, Jann Wenner is also the co-founder of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Though the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is frequently the subject of controversy as of late, it is still a staple each year with the induction ceremony being a grand production; the 2018 ceremony is already sold out for its April 18th show.
Also recently exciting news for Wenner is that a biography is being written about him in time for the 50th anniversary of Rolling Stone magazine in 2018 by a former contributing editor for both Rolling Stone and Men’s Journal, Joe Hagan.
