Reba Nell McEntire is an American singer, songwriter, and actress from McAlester, Oklahoma. She was signed by Mercury Records in 1975 after hearing her demo tape. She then released singles which did not particularly chart well. Her first self-titled album was also didn’t chart well. She then released Out of a Dream in 1979, Feel the Fire in 1980, Heart to Heart in 1981, Unlimited in 1982, and Behind the Scene in 1983. Following the release of her 6th album, she left Mercury due to creative differences and generally negative responses to her music.
Reba McEntire later signed with MCA Nashville Records in 1984 and released Just a Little Love which was the beginning of her success in the genre. She later released My Kind of Country on the same year and became her first international hit and highest ranking album at number 13 on the charts. Due to the success of the album, she received her first Country Music Association Award for Female Vocalist of the Year.
