Kofi Annan was born on April 8th, 1938 in Comassie, Gold Coast (now Kumasi, Ghana). Kofi Annan used his status as a Secretary General in the United Nations to make life fairer and more peaceful for the rest of the world. During his time in the United Nations, he fought for a lot of things such as sustainable development, human rights, rule of law and general peace as a whole. Due to his efforts in trying to make a world a better place to live, he won a Noble Prize in 2001 specifically for his humanitarian work.
Even after working at the United Nations, he stepped down and continued helping those in need. He founded the Kofi Annan foundation shortly after leaving the United Nations and was made chair of The Elders. The Elders was a group founded by the late great Nelson Mandela. The official Twitter page of Kofi Annan described him as a big inspiration to both people young and old alike.
Aside from trying to make the entire world a better place to live in, he did lots of work in his home country of Ghana too. He endeavored a lot of initiatives to help his home country and was also named chairmanship to the Africa Progress Panel.
