• Kim Kardashian West Joins Social Media Boycott Campaign

Kim Kardashian West joins social media boycott campaign. She is well-known American media personality with around 188 million Instagram followers and 29 Million likes on Facebook, has vowed to boycott Facebook and Instagram for 24 hours in response to the failure on Facebook’s end for not appropriately addressing the hate speech posts on the platform. In a statement, Kim said that we could see misinformation spreading on social media, and it had a severe impact on how people perceive different things.

Kim has become a part of the #StopHateforProfit campaign, which some civil rights activists started. However, she is among the few celebrities who are robust social media hitters with millions of fan following worldwide. Kim also said that brands offer her $1 Million for getting access to her social media followers.

    Big Celebrities Joining #StopHateforProfit

Jennifer Lawrence, Kerry Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Sacha Baron Cohen will be part of the camping, which is flayed to materialize on Wednesday. The campaign was launched by nine civil rights organizations, Color of Change, Common Sense, Free Press, LULAC, Mozilla, NAACP, ADL (Anti-Defamation League), National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC), and Sleeping Giants.

The backlash on Facebook took place two weeks later after the killing of George Floyd. The civil rights organizations are putting forward their argument that many groups over social media are trying to stir up violence in America, and they have an intention to split up the nation.

Initially, back in July, the campaign asked big companies to stop their advertisements on Facebook. More than 1200 companies came forward to support the move, including Ford, Adidas, Unilever, Verizon Patagonia, and many others. Now on Wednesday, the participants of #StopHateforProfit will freeze their Facebook and Instagram profiles.

In a statement, Kim clearly stated that she loves Instagram and Facebook for connecting with people, but sitting silently on such a crucial matter isn’t something acceptable for me. It’s not tolerable that these platforms are becoming a part of spreading hate, misinformation, and baseless propaganda. Kim further added that she will freeze her account on Wednesday and will support #StopHateforProfit.
