Early on in his career, the biggest role Henry Cavil attained was a role in the 2002 iteration of The Count of Monte Cristo. Despite this being his biggest film role up to that point in his career, it did not really open doors for him in Hollywood yet. Instead, Cavill starred in more lesser movie roles and various TV shows up until the year of 2007. Henry Cavill nearly broke into Hollywood in 2006 because director Martin Campbell was interested in casting the young actor as James Bond for Casino Royale. Campbell wanted the 22 year old because the movie was supposed to be an origin story. Those plans never came into fruition as Brandon Routh was cast as Superman in Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns which released back in 2006. Superman Returns was the only Superman movie that Brandon Routh ever made because the film was seen as a box office failure by Warner Bros at the time. The failure of the movie opened the door for Cavill to finally play Superman seven years later in the 2013 film Man of Steel.
Before Man of Steel though, Cavill’s biggest role to date in 2007 was when he was cast in the TV show called The Tudors which ran for 38 episodes in a span of three years.
