Elana Meyers Taylor was born on October 10, 1984 in Oceanside, California but she grew up in Douglasville, Georgia. Meyers attended the George Washington University. She played softball in college but was inspired to try bobsledding after watching Vonetta Flowers win the gold medal during the Winter Olympics in 2002. In April 2014, she married fellow bobsledder Nic Taylor.
One of Meyers’ career highlights was winning the bronze medal, along with Erin Pac, at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. She also won the silver medal, together with Lauryn Williams, at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
