In his afternoon, the news was officially released that Marine Le Pen was easily defeated by Emmanuel Macron for the office of President of France. Here in the United States, little about these two candidates and their families is known.
We have written about Emmanuel Macron’s net worth, but now that Macron has won the French Presidency, it’s interesting to know more about his wife, Brigitte Trogneux.
Brigitte Trogneux is 64 years old, 25 years older than Macron. She is a teacher at the elite Lycee Saint-Louis de Gonzague high school (the Andover of France).
Trogneux was never particularly wealthy. She grew up among 6 kids, and got involved in a romance with Emmanuelle Macron while he was still in school.
Since she met Macron, he went from receiving an average government salary to making millions as an investment banker.
In the late 2000s, Macron was offered a position at a French investment bank, Rothschild & Cie. At Rothschild, Macron earned a total of $3.5 million USD. Part of this was an annual salary of $400,000 to $500,000, and the rest was a bonus.
However, although Macron made millions of dollars during his time at Rothschild, when he declared his candidacy for president, he and Brigitte Trogneux had only around $350,000 USD in investment and little more than $100,000 in insurance policies as assets.
Where did their money go? Macron’s campaign said he spent about $1.4 million USD on a condo and a few hundred thousand to pay for the loans. Macron and Trogneux took out a $350,000 USD mortgage loan in order to restore their condo, before selling it.
So what is Brigitte Trogneux net worth? According to our estimates of Trogneux’s and Macron’s assets and debts, we estimate their total worth to be less than $2 million USD.
Lately, Trogneux has been supporting the family, earning a few thousand dollars a month as a teacher.
