Russia’s richest man, Vladamir Potanin might lose half of his $15 billion fortune to ex-wife in a bitter divorce $7 billion divorce settlement.
Though the billionaire offered to settle up with his former wife of 30 years, Natalie Pontanina, and properties in three different cities across the world, she says what’s rightfully hers is exactly half of what Potanin has.
“Natalia claims Potanin’s real wealth is held in offshore companies, and she’s launched an international legal battle to get hold of it,” according to CNN Money.
Under Russian law, wealth acquired during a marriage has to be divided equally upon divorce. Potanina could very well win her case.
Before the divorce, Potanin had pledge to donate half of his wealth to charity to avoid his children- he has three with Potanina- living in excessive wealth.
Potanin’s lawyer, according to CNN Money, said the current settlement Potanin worked out with his ex should be more than enough, but her claims will be heard July 1.
The divorce made headlines last year when a federal judge approved the compelling of New York executives to reveal information about her ex-husband’s assets.
If the judge sides with Potanina again, the $7 billion divorce will be one of the largest divorce settlements in history.
You know what they say, when she leave your ass she’s going to leave with half.
