• Shaggy’s Net Worth Will Surprise You

The man, the myth, the legend behind the 2000 hit “It Wasn’t Me” is worth a lot more than you’d probably expect.

Shaggy’s Net Worth Will Surprise You

The Jamaican-born reggae singer Orville Richard Burrell, best known as Shaggy, experienced huge success with his album from 2000, Hot Shot. Including his big hits “It Wasn’t Me” and “Angel” (the two most requested tracks at eighth grade dances that year) his fifth studio release sold an estimated 10,000,000 copies worldwide.

According to this article from the LA Times, Shaggy’s album even knocked a Dave Matthews Band album release out of the number one spot. The kicker, Dave’s album had only been out for two weeks, while Hot Shot was out at that point for 7 months.

In 2008, Shaggy became another singer you had no idea had enough material to compile a hits album but did. He released The Bombastic Collection- The Best of Shaggy, which apparently includes 18 tracks of which five were number singles and 11 were top ten hits, says Amazon. Mind. Blown.

Shaggy is now back on the music charts with his single “I Need Your Love,” emerging from obscurity after releasing a few duds from 2011-2013. He’s even doing some touring, too.

Side note: Arguably this slump was because of his poor choice album titles. For example his 2011 “Shaggy and Friends,” evokes no images other than a gangling debatable-stoner looking for clues with his pals and an incessantly hungry dog in a mystery mobile. See: Scooby Doo.

Regardless, Shaggy will always have the last because Shaggy’s net worth is $10,000,000, estimated.
