expensive Oscars outfit

Cate Blanchett won the Best Actress Oscar at the 2014 Academy Awards. She probably felt like a million dollars. She looked even pricier.

Blanchett’s total Oscars outfit was an estimated $18.1 million dollars, according to Vogue magazine. Her embellished nude dress from the Armani Prive Fall 2013 Collection carries a price tag estimated at $100,000. The jewels – all of which was on loan – pushed Blanchett’s outfit cost over-the-top.

Her Chopard-designed earrings had 62 opals set in white gold and wore a brown diamond bracelet and a pear-shaped diamond ring, both also from Chopard, pushed the total damage over $18 million.

Second runner-up was Charlize Theron who sadly only sported a $15 million dollar get-up.

The crew of the $1.3 million dollar yacht, The Victorian, stunned a crowd enjoying a sunny day along the Thames River by smashing into the Richmond Bridge in southwest London.

Strong currents were possibly the cause for the watery crash. The river tide came in quickly and the water levels rose to at least seven feet.

A witness to the crash told The Mirror, “We saw the boat coming and thought ‘there’s no way he’s getting through in that’.”

expensive handbag

The most expensive handbag in the world found an owner.

The Heritage Auctions Holiday Luxury Auction in Dallas, Texas claims to have sold “the world’s most collectible bag” at the world’s most expensive price tag — $125,000.

Initially valued at less than half the winning bid, this one-of-a-kind “Geranium Porosus” bag by Hermes is made from the highest quality Togo leather and matte crocodile. It also features color coordinated feet.

The buyer of the expensive handbag is unknown, but Director of Luxury Accessories Matt Rubinger notes, “All Hermes lovers have to hear is that this bag is one-of-one and they will know that it is an extraordinary piece.”

The expensive handbag is thought to have been part of a 2010 Hermes project in London where top-notch craftsmen used rare materials to construct this exclusive purse, among other things.
