With a new hit show called ‘Kevin Can Wait’, Hollywood moneymaker Kevin James is back. Even though most of his movies are low budget, he is one of the best investments a studio can make given the percentage return on investment for his movies.
Kevin James: Cash Cow
In the last few years, Kevin James has made several high grossing movies. Paul Blart: Mall Cop, for example, made almost $220 million on a budget of nearly nothing. And in 2015, Paul Blart 2 was Sony’s highest grossing movie. Pixels also did well.
Now, Kevin James has a new show, ‘Kevin Can Wait’, which since premiering on CBS a few weeks ago, has been the highest rated new comedy of the year.
James was making over $500,000 per episode toward the end of his previous hit show, King of Queens, and star salaries have increased dramatically since then, so it wouldn’t be surprising if James is making nearly $1 milllion per episode (although we expect it’s closer to $500,000 since this is a new show).
Forbes in 2012 listed James as number 10 on their list of “Best Actors for the Buck.” According to their analysis, for every $1 paid, James returns over $22. James’ movies often are very cheap to make but do very well at the box office, making him a very good investment for studios.
According to Variety, in 2012, Kevin and his wife bought a home in Florida for $18 million. In the same article, they note that just four of James’ movies brought in a total of $800 million.
So what is Kevin James’ net worth in 2017?
So with the royalties from the films and King of Queens we would estimate James’ net worth at a little under $100 million. Add to that his salary from ‘Kevin Can Wait’ and we estimate his salary to be between $100 and $120 million.
Now, that’s a lot of dough for a mall cop!
