• Are expensive tasting menus worth the high cost?

The Daily Meal recently compiled a list of 10 U.S. restaurants that offer ultra expensive tasting menus, and they’re costly for a reason – the meals are decadent and lavish, prepared by some of the country’s top chefs at Michelin-rated establishments.

Are expensive tasting menus worth the high cost?

At Napa Valley’s The Restaurant at Meadowood, for example, dining on their tasting menu would set you back a cool $500 per person. Why? For starters, the restaurant is in a prestigious area and uses only the finest local ingredients for all dishes.

Guy Savoy in Las Vegas is another pricey establishment, offering an 8-course tasting menu that’ll clock in at $420 per person. Keep in mind this “Black Truffle Prestige” menu is laden with rich black truffles and other costly ingredients.

So are expensive tasting menus really worth the investment?

If you’re not just in it for the food, yes. Sure some might find it ridiculous to shell out hundreds of dollars for one meal, but these restaurants offer so much more than a bite to eat. Not only do they make incredible dishes, but they also have beautiful ambiance, gorgeous plating techniques and impeccable service.

Whether you save up or have a few hundred dollars to spare, expensive tasting menus at exclusive restaurants can provide you with a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
